The Senate of United States voted 97-3 to affirm the US to keep its embassy in Jerusalem. 97 senators supported while three Democratic Senators Bernie Sanders (Vermont), Elizabeth Warren (Massachusetts) and Tom Carper (Delaware) opposed.
It was forward by Republican Senators Jim Inhofe (Oklahoma) and Bill Hagerty (Tennessee).Senator Jim tweeted that the amendment “would make the US Embassy in Jerusalem permanent, effectively preventing it from being downgraded or moved. It’s an important message that we acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.”
Biden administration already stated that it has no intention of relocating the embassy from Jerusalem. The embassy was relocated to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv in 2018, by former US president Donald Trump who implemented the Congressional 1995 US Embassy Act (which mandated that the American Embassy be relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem) and it was not delayed by former presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barack Obama.
It is noted that the Congressional 1995 US Embassy Act was supported by Joe Biden when he was in the Senate.
